A lifelong activist, Dan Shannon began his career at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, where he served as Director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns, developing 10 years of experience in campaign and messaging development and online and offline organizing. Shannon also spearheaded numerous successful campaigns to get major corporations to adopt groundbreaking animal welfare guidelines. Since joining the Purpose team, he has led work helping traditional nonprofit organizations transition into using digital tools and new messaging strategies to connect with a broader, more diverse audience, including developing a soon-to-launch digital campaigning function for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Shannon and his wife, Annie, run a popular vegan lifestyle blog, MeetTheShannons.com, and are coauthors of the popular vegan cookbook Betty Goes Vegan. Their work has been featured in the New York Times, and they have appeared as guests on the Today Show.
